Well-balanced finite volume schemes for one-dimensional blood flow models: application to the venous system

This talk regards a brief introduction to finite volume schemes an in particular to a family of numerical schemes called path-conservative schemes. Equations describing one-dimensional blood flow in elastic vessels will be used as model equations throughout the presentation. Moreover, an overview on the anatomy of head and neck veins will be given.
